"RBC": attackers on National Guard in Chechnya take advantage of violations of military discipline

In Chechnya, during the attack on a unit of the National Guard of Russia, the on duty soldiers at the checkpoint were asleep, and that fact explained the penetration of the militants to the territory of the military unit, the "RBC" reports today. Meanwhile, the journalists explain the wounds of the killed men by activities of a sniper.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 24, an attack was committed on the checkpoint of the military camp of the “Rosgvardia” (National Guard of Russia), the responsibility for which was claimed by the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia. Six servicemen were killed, and three others wounded. Six attackers were also killed, and two managed to escape.

On March 25, in the Elena Milashina's article "The 'Chinese shelling' in the Cossack village of Naurskaya", the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" reports that the analysis of the photographs of the attackers taken at the place of the incident actually proves the fabrication of the report of the armed clash and may indicate that the killed suspects were detained alive.

The official version of the incident has its explanations, the "RBC" reports today in the article "Details of attack on National Guard in Chechnya."

The militants who attacked the law enforcers came without arms and managed to enter the territory of the military unit because of the fact that the on duty soldiers at the checkpoint were asleep, the "RBC" reports with reference to its sources.

The militants had slaughtered two sleeping officers on duty, took their submachine guns and rubber truncheons. According to the sources, already on the territory of the military unit, the militants stumbled upon the patrol and were killed in a shootout with the soldiers.

In total, the attack involved eight persons. Of them, two "staid on the lookout," and so when the panic rose, those two men managed to flee, a source explains. According to him, one of the attackers who fled the place has already been caught.

A source of the "RBC" from National Guard of Russia explains the bullet wounds to the militants' heads by the fact that some of the killed attackers "were shot dead by a sniper, a native of Dagestan." According to the source, apart from knives, the militants had improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with them.

The "RBC" sources assert that signs of handcuffs noticed by journalists of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" could be left by a cord of a rubber truncheon.
