In Chechnya, the shootout at a checkpoint in the Naur District, in which six fighters of the National Guard and six militants were killed, became at least the third armed clash between law enforcers and suspected members of the armed underground in the republic since early 2017.

Six of the attackers were killed, and two others fled, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies. During the attack, six fighters of the National Guard were killed, and three others were injured.

On January 11, during the armed clash in the village of Tsotsi-Yurt of the Kurchaloi District, four suspected militants and two fighters of the National Guard were killed. One of the suspected militants managed to flee. The killed suspects were identified as Umar Ozdiev, Raibek Idrisov, Alikhan Kupchiev, and Uzum-Khadji Madaev.
