HRC "Memorial": Magomed Aushev recognizes suspect of torturing him

Magomed Aushev has identified one of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia, who applied violence to him during the confrontation. However, the suspect refuted Aushev's words, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.

Earlier, Toma Tsechoeva, an Aushev's advocate, noted that investigators, under various pretexts, had refused to hold a confrontation.

Magomed Aushev, a resident of the village of Ekazhevo, was detained on December 20, 2014, on suspicion of shooting from a wedding cortege. After the detention, Aushev, according to his relatives, was tortured.

On March 10, in the presence of witnesses, Aushev confronted five persons for identification. Aushev immediately pointed to one of them – an employee of the Centre to Combat Extremism (CCE) of the Ingush MIA, the HRC "Memorial" reports, adding that the above investigative actions were conducted in the absence of the suspect's advocate.

According to the HRC, the suspect stated that he had never known Aushev, and had not applied any violence to him.
