MIA announces involvement of 175 KBR residents in militants' groupings in Syria and Iraq

Since the start of hostilities in Syria, 99 criminal cases were instituted against residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). This was reported by Igor Romashkin, the head of the KBR’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

"According to the available information, 175 KBR residents are involved in the activities of international terrorist organizations on the territory of the SyrianArabRepublic and the Islamic Republic of Iraq," Minister Romashkin reported at the meeting of the KBR’s Parliament held on February 28, as quoted by the "Interfax".

The MIA head has reported that since the beginning of hostilities in Syria, 99 criminal cases were instituted against KBR residents; 59 people were put on the international wanted list; and 80 people – on the federal wanted list.

"23 people returned from the conflict zone to the territory of the KBR. Of them, five were sentenced, two others were detained, and four others were neutralized when they rendered armed resistance," the head of the KBR’s MIA has added.
