Azerbaijani political analysts claim Armenia's attempt to take revenge for loss of territories

The escalation of tension in the Karabakh conflict zone on February 25 was caused by the desire of the Armenian side to take revenge for the territorial losses and regain its lost positions. Besides, Armenia will benefit from it to mobilize its voters for the parliamentary elections. This opinion was voiced by Azerbaijani political analysts to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On February 25, Azerbaijan accused Armenia of 120 bombardments in one day and an attempt to enter the territory controlled by the Azerbaijani troops to seize advantageous positions. Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani side suffered losses, reported the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Azerbaijan tried to ascribe its own diversion to the Armenian side, during which it suffered losses in killed and wounded, reported the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Uzeir Jafarov, a military expert, the leader of the NGO "Military Journalists", has treated the escalation of night of February 25 as expected. "During all the earlier days, the Armenian side concentrated heavy weapons and tanks on the frontline. In that regard, top-ranking officials of the Azerbaijani MoD were also engaged in verification of troops on the frontline," said Uzeir Jafarov.

According to him, the Armenian side seeks to regain its positions lost in last April, and it "timed its military strikes to the anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy."

"In connection with the parliamentary elections, the Armenian authorities will maintain the tension in the Karabakh conflict zone in order to mobilize voters in their favour," believes Uzeir Jafarov.
