Magomed Aushev’s representatives demand confrontation with power agents suspected of torture

The investigation of the case of torture of Magomed Aushev is unreasonably protracted, while the demand to hold a confrontation with the suspects is rejected, said the relatives and the advocate of the resident of Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 20, 2014, Magomed Aushev, a resident of the village of Ekazhevo, was detained on suspicion of opening fire out of a car during a wedding party. According to his family members, after his detention, Magomed Aushev was tortured and beaten. On December 22, 2014, he lost consciousness at courthouse and was hospitalized. Magomed Aushev was released on recognizance not to leave for medical treatment, and he underwent surgery. In May 2015, the mother of Magomed Aushev said that armed men came to their house and demanded from her son to retract his evidence. The inquiry into the complaint of Magomed Aushev about torture was reopened after the detention of employees of the Ingush Centre to Combat Extremism (CCE).

Movlatkhan Ausheva, Magomed’s mother, complained that the investigation into the torture of her son was protracted. She sent her applications to the President of Russia, the head of the Republic of Ingushetia and the heads of the power structures of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ingushetia.

Back on January 18, Magomed Aushev’s legal representatives lodged a petition demanding to hold the identification procedure and confrontation with the power agents, suspected of using torture to Magomed, which made him an invalid, his advocate Toma Tsechoeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, the petition gave names of particular persons, with whom the confrontation was demanded.

"However, investigators do nothing, and under far-fetched reasons refuse to hold the confrontation," said the advocate.
