CTO in Tsumadin District is fifth in Dagestan in January

Last night, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the dwelling settlements of Kvanada and Gimerso of the Tsumadin District of Dagestan, the spokesman of the republic's operative headquarters of the Russia's National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported. According to his story, the CTO regime is in force since 4:00 a.m. Moscow time.

The CTO regime has been introduced in the country for the fifth time since the start of 2017. In January, CTOs were held also in the Novolak, Buynaksk, Karabudakhkent and Kizlyar Districts and in the city of Khasavyurt.

In the morning on January 29, the CTO regime was introduced in the Dagestani Khasavyurt, where power agents blocked a private house. According to law enforcers, members of an illegal armed formation (IAF) were hiding in it. They refused to lay down their weapons; the house was stormed; and three men were killed. According to power agents, they were identified as Abdulkhalik Ragimov, Suipudin Abdullaev and Murad Shakhveledov.

In the morning on January 21, the CTO regime was announced in the village of Vperyod, Kizlyar District. Power agents blocked one of private houses. As a result of the assault, two persons were killed. According to law enforcers, they were members of the "Khasavyurt" militant grouping. One of them was identified as Rashid Asulbekov, the other one – as Ruslan Magomedrasulov.

On January 17, at 1:00 p.m. Moscow time, the CTO regime was announced in parts of the Buynaksk and adjacent Karabudakhkent Districts of Dagestan. According to the spokesman of the republic's operative headquarters of the NAC, power agents were searching for militants and their helpers. The CTO regime was lifted at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 18. The results of the CTO were not reported.

On the first day of the year, January 1, the CTO regime was announced in a part of the Novolak District of Dagestan, where two suspected militants were killed, and two power agents were wounded. One of the casualties was identified as the 28-year-old Anvar Gadjiev; the other – as Magomed Sultanov. The CTO regime was cancelled at 5:00 p.m. Moscow time on the same day.
