Political analysts predict RPA's victory at parliamentary elections
No radical changes in the composition of the Parliament may be expected, since the victory of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is facilitated by the absence of any political rivals capable to win 54%. This was stated by the experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
On December 6, 2015, Armenia held a referendum on the transition to the parliamentary form of governance. The reform was supported by 63.35% of the voters. The elections are scheduled for April 2.
According to Aharon Adibekyan, the head of the "Sociometer" Centre of Sociological Studies, the parliamentary seats are secured for the parties, whose candidates won the elections to local self-government bodies.
Mr Adibekyan believes that the RPA, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), the Country of Law (Armenian Revival) Party, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) and the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" will win their seats at the Parliament.
Besides, as he said, to pass to the Parliament, a party should have a charismatic leader, an organized team and financial resources.
Alexander Iskandaryan, Director of the Caucasus Institute, believes that parties will make use of their financial and administrative resources in order to win.
In his turn, Ruben Megrabyan, an expert of the Centre for Political and International Studies, has noted that the Armenian society has a low level of confidence in the elections, since voters see no chances to change anything.
