Seven persons detained at march in memory of Markelov and Baburova
Tonight in Moscow a march was held to commemorate the slain lawyer Stanislav Markelov and the journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anastasia Baburova.
The advocate Stanislav Markelov was assassinated on January 19, 2009, in Moscow, after the press conference dedicated to the release from prison of Colonel Yuri Budanov, convicted in 2003 on charges of murdering a Chechen girl Elza Kungaeva. As a result of the attempt on Markelov, journalist Anastasia Baburova also perished.
In the course of the today’s anti-fascist march, Moscow policemen detained seven persons, including a female LGBT activist, who was holding a rainbow flag; and Sergei Kovshov, a member of the movement "Sorok Sorokov", who was chanting: "For Orthodoxy, for homeland!" the website of the human rights media project "OVD-info" reports.
Also, observers of the OGON (United Group of Public Observation) report about the "censoring" of posters – policemen allowed only the posters "on the applied theme of the march," the RBC reports.
According to Lev Ponomaryov, the leader of the movement "For Human Rights", the march was over 500 persons strong, the "Interfax" reports.
