'No coup d'etat' on November 12
A session of the Abkhazian parliament was held yesterday, November 17. Among other issues, deputies discussed the statement by President of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba in which he described the November 12 developments as "an armed coup". 21 out of 22 deputies claimed that these developments could be qualified as an armed coup in no way.
Deputies hold that "there was no armed seizure of government buildings since Sergey Bagapsh's supporters only unblocked the complex of administrative buildings occupied by supporters of Raul Khadzhimba." The parliamentarians believe that the authorities and government "are able to work according to their usual regime" and call upon all citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia "to keep law and order in the state", reported a Caucasian Knot correspondent.
