For the sixth time IS claims responsibility for attacks on power agents in Dagestan

The statement of the terrorist grouping "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russian, claiming responsibility for attacks on policemen, committed in Makhachkala and Kizilyurt on December 25, was the sixth one in Dagestan since September 2015, when the IS first reported its involvement in attacks on power agents. Typically, the IS claims more casualties among power agents as a result of its attacks.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in the past 24 hours Dagestan saw two attacks, in which two policemen were killed and one wounded. In its turn, the IS claims that four policemen were killed.

Earlier, two attacks were committed in Derbent and in the area of the Makhachkala-Kaspiysk highway each; one attack in Kizilyurt (about 50 km north-west of Makhachkala), in the Derbent District at the village of Djemikent (30 km from Derbent in the direction to Makhachkala), and in the vicinity of the village of Magaramkent (50 km south of Derbent) each.

In the city of Derbent, incidents, for which the IS claimed responsibility, occurred on December 30, 2015, and on May 14, 2016.

On September 2, 2015, the IS claimed responsibility for the attack on military barracks in the vicinity of the village of Magaramkent. However, power agents and local residents have not confirmed the information about the attack.
