Chechen special agents sent to Syria to guard airbase

A joint military detachment of the battalions "East" and "West", stationed in Chechnya, will perform functions of military police in Syria and guard the Russian Hmeymin Airbase, said a source from the military base in Khankala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 6 a video was posted on the Internet, which showed that at least one hundred military policemen were sent to Syria from a suburb of Grozny. The soldiers were shown in their combat gear on the landing airfield of Khankala.

In February, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that Chechen special agents were working in Syria. According to his version, the commandos are operating in the rear of the militants of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, by collecting information about the number of terrorists, and by identifying targets for bombing.

The above source from the military base in Khankala has confirmed the authenticity of the video, the "Kommersant" writes. According to his story, it is assumed that the above joint detachment will function as the military police, guard the Russian Hmeymin Airbase, and act only in the territory liberated by the Syrian Army.
