Kadyrov cancels his earlier ban on sale of alcohol in Chechnya

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has stated that the republic's authorities have no plans to ban the sale of alcoholic beverages.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier in Chechnya all the owners of shops selling alcoholic beverages had stopped their activities. This happened after Ramzan Kadyrov’s statement that the alleged perpetrator of the road accident near the Chernorechensk road police post on the "Kavkaz" Highway, in which 7 persons were killed, was drunk.

At night on November 28, in the "Kavkaz" Highway in Chechnya, a Ford car drove into the oncoming lane and made a head-on collision with a VAZ-21014 car, after which the first car was thrown at the following Priora car. The accident resulted in the death of seven people on the spot. Two more were hospitalized.

"We’ll not toughen the rules of selling alcohol, because we can’t do it under the law; however we can further make use of our religion, customs and mentality," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Ramzan Kadyrov as saying,

According to his story, he has addressed religious leaders with an appeal not to take part in the funerals of the drivers, who have themselves fallen victims to road accidents, while being in the state of alcoholic intoxication, the TASS reports.
