Karaulova renounces her confessions

After the prosecutor had announced her confessions given during the preliminary investigation, Varvara Karaulova, a former student of the Moscow State University, said that the investigator misunderstood her; and that she gave confessions without her advocate present.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 5, the Moscow District Military Court began considering the case of Varvara Karaulova (Alexandra Ivanova), accused of attempting to participate in a terrorist organization in Syria. The defendant refuses to plead guilty. On November 17, at the court session, Karaulova began testifying to the court.

At the today's session, the prosecutor announced Karaulova's evidence, which contradicted her interrogation at the trial, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the courtroom.

"Varvara Pavlovna, did you give these testimonies? Have you read the protocol, and did you sign it? Were you under pressure?" the prosecutor asked her after announcement of the first protocol.

"I didn't give these testimonies. This is what investigator understood; and he advised me to sign it. My advocate Noskov came later," said Varvara Karaulova.
