On November 7-13, one person perished in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from November 7 to November 13, 2016, in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus one person was killed, while no information about wounded persons was reported. These are the results of the calculations, run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The casualty was an alleged member of the armed underground of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On November 10, the city of Baksan, Kabardino-Balkaria, was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. In Shogentsukov Street, a private house was blocked, where an alleged member of the armed underground was hiding. In response to demand to surrender, the man opened fire and was killed by return fire. He was pre-identified as Akhmed Shevkhuzhev, who had been searched on suspicion of assaulting policemen at night on October 9. The CTO regime was lifted at 2:40 p.m. Moscow time.
On November 11, the CTO regime was announced in the Shamil District of Dagestan, where actions were undertaken to search for militants and their helpers. This caused cancellation of the meeting of residents of the villages of Verkhni Kolob, Kakhib and Goor-Khindakh dedicated to the inquiry into the murder of Gasanguseinov brothers, scheduled for November 13. It had been assumed to inform the public about the investigation into the murder at the meeting.
Detentions
On November 11, power agents undertook detentions of the believers of the so-called "Bolnichnaya" (Hospital) mosque in Khasavyurt, which is considered to be a Salafi one. According to parishioners, power agents, OMON (riot police) agents and law enforcers in civilian clothes among them, surrounded the mosque after the Friday namaz (prayer) and began detaining people. Similar actions were undertaken in a number of other mosques of Khasavyurt. In total, up to 200 persons were detained. In the evening, most of the detained parishioners were released, except for six persons who had no documents on them. Detainees later told that standard procedures were applied to them at the police station. Those, not preventively registered earlier, were registered; some others, despite the fact of their earlier registration, were fingerprinted.
