HALO Trust raises USD 60,000 for demining NKR territory
The international organization named "HALO Trust" has completed a fundraising campaign intended to demine 1.8 hectares in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). In particular, it is planned to clear from ordnance a land plot belonging to the Vazgenashen community of the Martuni District, and a land plot adjacent to the villages of Myurishen and Adur of the Martuni District, and Arav of the Askeran District.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the HALO Trust is raising funds for demining within the framework of the campaign "Safe Steps for Karabakh Residents".
In the course of the campaign, "the HALO Trust has raised 30,000 US dollars; the sum will double on the initiative of some benefactor, who wished to remain anonymous," said the spokesman of the Trust.
The HALO Trust is a British charity and an American non-profit organization (NPO), engaged in the disposal of landmines and unexploded ordnances, which can be dangerous for civilians.
"In the context of the status of an unrecognized state, the funding of demining the NKR is limited," said Ash Badi, the head of the HALO Trust programme for the NKR.
The heads of the villages of Arav, Myurishen and Vazgenashen note that in recent years in the territory intended for clearing, at least five persons received traumas from explosions.
