40-day commemoration for victims of Beslan hostage crisis started
The 40-day commemoration for peopled killed in the hostage-taking in Beslan has started today and will last until Saturday, October 16, the Caucasian Knot correspondent was told in the public relief committee Tragedy of Beslan, organized by teachers of School #1. "There are no talks about taking revenge on the Ingushetians in Beslan," Aleksey Shvedov, a member of the teachers' committee, said. "People in mourning go from house to house presenting their condolences. They don't have daggers or automatic rifles. They got tired with grief, losses, and deaths and don't want any hostilities under any pretext. The one who will appeal for revenge will hardly avoid people's anger. However I'm talking about Beslan and can't say anything about the situation in the Prigorodny district of North Osetia."
Funerals of victims identified by genetic examination in a Rostov laboratory are being held in Beslan almost every day.
Up to now no department has been able to give the exact number of people killed, injured or gone missing. 177 former hostages are still getting treatment in Moscow clinics. 11 school children from Beslan are in the Rostov regional hospital, three of them with burning injuries.
