Volgograd residents collect signatures against outsourcing in kindergartens

The campaign against the law on outsourcing in kindergartens has been launched in Volgograd. The petition posted on the website "Change.org" starts collecting signatures against the law.

The Volgograd city administration is preparing a draft resolution on pre-school institutions, according to which the catering in kindergartens will be provided through outsourcing. According to the authors of the draft resolution, outsourcing will improve quality of catering in kindergartens and optimize the expenses for it.

The authors of the petition emphasize that large-scale reorganization of the catering system in kindergartens will not result in any substantial savings, but will make at least 200 staff members redundant.

The street protest against the law was initiated by Olga Cheburakova, the chair of the public movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights". A rally is scheduled for November 11.

According to local media, employees of kindergartens were not informed in advance about the reform. Layoffs and transfers became a surprise to them, the "Volgograd Bloknot" reports with reference to cook Alevtina.

The City Duma notes that the future changes will not result in massive layoffs of kitchen staff. Cooks will be transferred to a company to be determined through tender.
