Makhachkala Mayoralty starts inspecting catering facilities after mass poisoning with water

The Makhachkala authorities have promised to close all banquet halls and catering points, where inspections will reveal violations of sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

On October 27, residents of Makhachkala complained about supply of dirty water after the works at the Miatlinskaya HPP. Since that day, reports began to arrive about hospitalization of locals with symptoms of acute intestinal infection. As of November 2, 618 people received medical treatment in hospital regime and continue treatment at home.

On November 4, Musa Musaev, Mayor of Makhachkala, held an extraordinary meeting with officials and employees of municipal services on the situation in the city. In particular, at the meeting, it has been announced that despite the measures taken by the authorities, the risk of infection still remains. Residents of the city should use only boiled water, and swimming pools will be closed in the city until the threat of infection is eliminated completely. Meanwhile, according to Musa Musaev, the need to enter emergency mode has been avoided.

The City Mayor has instructed the heads of the inner-city municipalities of Makhachkala to organize the inspections of all catering points.

"In case if violation of the sanitary and epidemiological requirements is found at a commercial facility, it should be immediately closed until complete elimination of the violation," announces the message posted on the Mayoralty's website on November 4.
