In Yerevan, local residents demand to release their relatives involved in riots

Today, about 20 relatives of the arrested residents of the Yerevan district of Sari Tag have come to a protest action. They demand to release their family members.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 19, in Yerevan, the police clashed with activists while protesters tried to enter the territory of the seized police regiment building. According to eyewitnesses, from direction of the Yerevan district of Sari Tag, a group of people tried to break through to the seized police building, and when the police blocked their way, they began throwing stones at policemen. Later, four residents of Sari Tag, including Arutyun Torosyan, Grair Isakhanyan, Eduard Zeitounyan, and Andranik Keseyan, were charged under Part 2 of Article 316 of the Armenian Criminal Code (use of violence against a public official).

Today, about 20 relatives of the arrested people have attended the protest action held near the Armenian presidential residence, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to the protestors, on July 19, the later arrested people took to the streets "for social reasons," and they demanded to open the road to Sari Tag and to restore the supply of gas, electricity and water, cut off after the police regiment building had been seized by members of the group "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun).

The relatives of the arrested people have stated their intention to continue their protest until their family members are released.
