Policemen charged in case of Vladimir Tskaev's death

The chief of the police unit and eight staff members of the criminal investigation department of the Vladikavkaz Police are charged with abuse of power and use of violence resulting in the death of a detainee. One of the defendants has concluded a pre-trial agreement on cooperation, reported investigators.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of November 1, 2015, Vladimir Tskaev died after the interrogation at the Iriston ROVD (District Interior Division). According to his relatives, Vladimir Tskaev died as a result of torture. In the case of the Vladimir Tskaev's death, nine policemen were detained and the North-Ossetian Minister of Internal Affairs resigned after the incident.

The chief of the police unit and eight staff members of the criminal investigation department are accused under Article 285 (abuse of power with use of violence) and Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, negligently caused death of victim), announces the report published today on the website of the Investigating Department for North Ossetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The court pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure against the defendants in the form of detention in custody. One of the defendants has concluded a pre-trial agreement on cooperation, and the criminal case against him is separated, reports the ICRF's Department for North Ossetia.
