In Moscow, participants of Muslim forum criticize Grozny fatwa

Differences of opinions among Muslims note the richness of Islam and should not result in conflicts. This was stated by participants of the forum held in Moscow and aimed at rapprochement of schools of Sharia laws. According to interviewed forum participants, the Grozny fatwa will not affect the situation in the Islamic society and will not prevent the radicalization of young people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 27, following the outcome of the Islamic Conference on the topic "The followers of the Sunnah: who are they?", participants of the conference in Grozny adopted a fatwa, which recognized only followers of the Sufi tariqat as the true Muslims. The Grozny fatwa treated supporters of the Salafi concept of Islam as members of a dangerous sect.

According to Damir Mukhitdinov, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis, no school of Islam can claim for ultimate truth. He has noted that conflicts arise when one of the groups claim to be an expression of the positions of all Muslims.

The resolution of the Moscow forum states that "the spiritual unity of Muslims is a fundamental value, commanded by the Holy Koran."

According to Rushan Abbyasov, another deputy chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis, after the sharp response of Mufti Mezhiev to the appeal of Mufti Ravil Gainutdin, no one should expect an early resumption of the dialogue.

Imam Abduragim Ilyasov, the head of the Muslim community of the Tambov Region, a native of Dagestan, believes that the Grozny fatwa does not affect the position of the majority of Muslims in Russia. Furthermore, he has expressed his confidence that the dialogue in the Muslim community should be continued.
