Azerbaijan denies existence of Armenian war prisoners
Members of the Azerbaijan State Commission on Prisoners of War and the Missing commented to the Caucasian Knot correspondent the address delivered by a group of Karabakh Armenians to the OSCE Minsk Group concerning the presence of Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, who are used a slaves. The commission members consider these accusations ungrounded.
"There isn't a single Armenian war prisoner in Azerbaijan now. They all have been delivered to the Armenian side. The Azerbaijan side is ready to give an opportunity to check the presence of Armenian war prisoners," a commission member said.
Earlier, the Board Council of the Association of Relatives of the Missing Nagorno-Karabakh Soldiers delivered an address to the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group, Steven Mann (US), Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia) and Henry Jacolin (France), and to the leadership of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In the address, concern was raised because during the talks, no final solution has been found to the problems of establishing destinies of the soldiers taken prisoners and civilians taken hostages, discovering and exploring burial places, identifying remains and interring them.
