About 100 relatives of missing Dagestanis go out to rally

Today, about 50 women have gathered to a protest action in Khasavyurt; they held photos of their missing relatives, the "Chernovik" weekly reports.

Later, the rally became 100 people strong. The city Mayoralty had offered them to wait for some 10-15 days for a permit to hold a rally, but the women said they could not wait so long and continued their protest, the "Kavpolit" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 4, it became known that relatives of Dagestani residents Gashim Uzdanov, Pakhrudin Makhaev, Islam Magomedov, and Shamil Djamalutdinov appealed to the office of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" and asked for assistance in establishing the whereabouts of the disappeared men. Starting from October 5, they held a number of protest actions in Makhachkala, demanding from the authorities to inform them about the whereabouts of their relatives, who disappeared on September 27.

According to one of the protesters, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) continues promising to find their sons. "They said that our boys had been put on the federal wanted list; they tell nothing more. It's the 21st century; and it's no problem to identify the location of any person by phone; we conducted inquiry ourselves. They say, 'We're working. We'll find the people.' Why should they look for them, if they keep them? A man can be found by the car number plate, of course, if there's a wish to do it. If they are guilty before the law, let them answer. Otherwise, it's lynch law!" Umreikha Gasanova, the mother of Islam Magomedov, said.
