NAC reports on prevention of terror act in Kabardino-Balkaria

The three men, killed in special operation in Kabardino-Balkaria on October 13, were involved in plotting a terror act to be committed in one of the places of mass stay of people on the anniversary of the attack on Nalchik. This was reported by the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 13, in the village of Yanikoi of the Chegem District, according to a source from the law enforcement bodies of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), four persons were killed, who might have been involved in the attack on inspectors of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) in the town of Prokhladny. One more person is wanted.

At night of October 9, in the town of Prokhladny, four men shelled DPS inspectors. As a result, DPS inspectors Albert Kerimov and Vladimir Mishkov were killed.

"In the course of active measures to search for the criminals, who on October 9 shelled and killed inspectors of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) in the town of Prokhladny, the law enforcement authorities received the information about possible finding of a group of militants near the village of Yanikoi of the Chegem District of Kabardino-Balkaria," reports the information centre of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

The DPS inspectors tried to stop a car on the road Yanikoi-Lechinkai. Criminals opened fire from the car, reports the NAC.

"All the three criminals were neutralized. At present, they have been preliminary identified. The number of the neutralized criminals includes Murat Kaufov, the leader of the criminal grouping," the "Interfax" quotes a source from the NAC as reporting.

According to the NAC, the killed men were involved in the attack on the policemen in the town of Prokhladny. They were also engaged in "plotting a terror act to be committed in one of the places of mass stay of people on the anniversary of the attack on Nalchik, which occurred on October 13, 2005".
