ICRF suspects Krasnodar policeman of beating a detainee

In Krasnodar, a district police inspector is dismissed and comes under investigation. He is suspected of the fact that he has beaten a detainee, threatened him to falsify a criminal case against him, and tried to extort 500,000 roubles from him. When the policeman got no money from the detainee, he took the detainee's car. This has been reported today by the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

According to investigators, on July 29, at the police station, the district police inspector repeatedly hit in the face a resident of the Belorechensk District of Kuban. Then, he demanded from the detainee to give him 500,000 roubles for non-institution of a criminal case against him for possession of drugs allegedly found in his car, reports today the ICRF's Investigating Department for the Krasnodar Territory.

"When the district police inspector had learned that the detained man did not have the above mentioned amount of money, he seized a 217230 Lada car, belonging to the young man," states the report posted on the website of the ICRF's Investigating Department for the Krasnodar Territory.

According to the ICRF's Investigating Department, a criminal case is instituted against the district police inspector of the Department for the KrasnodarTerritory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) under Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power with use of violence).
