Shushiya villagers dig up road to land in dispute
Today, in Dagestan, residents of the village of Shushiya of the Novolaksky District have continued their protest action with the demand to return their land plots, allocated to them after their resettlement.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 6, the villagers held a rally with the demand to return 16.7 hectares of agricultural land and divide land plots among the local residents. According to the district administration, the land plots are allocated for investment projects, and people are offered other territories in return. The Shushiya villagers do not agree for the above conditions.
Since December 2014, the Shushiya villagers hold protest actions with the demand to return land plots. Earlier, the protesters had resorted to a hunger strike.
Today, the local residents have dug up the road, which runs along the land plot and leads to a construction site, where investment projects are being implemented.
In the morning, according to Gusein Djakhbarov, one of participants of the protest action, about 20 Shushiya villages gathered at the place, where the road was dug up.
