In Armenia, activists claim 162 violations committed during elections

Observers from the public initiative "Citizen Observer" have reports on crowds near polling stations, "carrousels", and bribes to voters. The observers have counted 162 violations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, in Armenia, 377 communities hold voting at the elections to local administrations.

The Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Assembly of Armenia has filed to the police seven complaints about violations committed at the elections, reports Arthur Sakunts, the chairman of the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Assembly of Armenia.

He has noted that in some cases, "the police took measures and dispersed the crowds."

The human rights defender has also reported on informing the police about state registration numbers of the cars and minibuses, which brought citizens, mostly the elderly people, to polling stations. Arthur Sakunts believes "that way was used to secure voting for the 'right' candidate."

In his turn, Edmond Marukyan, the leader of the "Light Armenia" Party, has claimed that starting from the morning, he "receives reports of violations: crowds of people around polling stations, bribery, and carrousels."

According to him, he got the messages reporting that candidates to the Vanadzor Council of Elders "stood near the polling stations and instructed people for whom to vote."
