In Gukovo, coordinator of miners' protests sentenced for threatening to kill an official

In the Rostov Region, the court has sentenced pensioner Valery Dyakonov, a coordinator of the miners' protest actions in Gukovo, to 60 hours of compulsory labour. The pensioner is found guilty of threatening to kill the deputy chief of the Zverevo administration.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the trial in the case against Valery Dyakonov was started in February 2016. According to prosecutors, on November 9, 2015, Valery Dyakonov visited Andrei Romanchenko, the deputy chief of the Zverevo administration and threatened him with a pistol. The activist himself argues that he only showed the official his Walter gas pistol and said he had to carry the pistol because of threats. At the request of the prosecutors, Valery Dyakonov was placed under house arrest. The activist himself claimed pressure on him.

The court found Valery Dyakonov guilty of threatening with murder (Part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and the activist was sentenced to 60 hours of compulsory labour, reports today, on September 27, the RIA "Novosti" with reference to a prosecutor from the Rostov Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that Valery Dyakonov is the coordinator of the protest actions held by workers of the "Kingcoal" group of companies, who demand to pay off wage arrears. Starting from August 22, the miners continue their hunger strike in Gukovo and demand to cover 300-million-rouble debt to them.
