Magomed Nurbagandov posthumously awarded Hero of Russia

The President of Russia has signed a decree to award the title of Hero of Russia to Magomed Nurbagandov, a Dagestani policeman, who was killed after under the threat of violence he had refused to urge his colleagues to leave the law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 10, at the forest near the village of Sergokala, two young men were shot and killed, including Magomed Nurbagandov.

In a mobile phone of one of the men killed in the special operation carried out on September 7 in Izberbash, law enforcers discovered a video record showing how two young men were shot dead. "In the face of death, Magomed Nurbagandov remained faithful to his oath," and he would be nominated for a state award, reported Irina Volk, the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). On September 13, Dagestani leader Ramazan Abdulatipov proposed to award Magomed Nurbagandov the title of Hero of Russia.

"Magomed Nurbagandov is awarded the high title for his courage and heroism in the line of duty," states the decree published on the website of the President of Russia.
