"Zelenye" Party calls on Vladimir Putin to take control over case on attack on ecologists in Krasnodar Territory

The investigation into the attack on a camp of participants of the fire prevention expedition, organized by the "Greenpeace" and the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), one of whom is a candidate to the State Duma, should be taken under special control of the President. This was stated by members of the movement "Zelenaya Alternativa" (The Green Alternative) and the ecological "Zelenye" (The Greens), who sent an appeal to Vladimir Putin.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that last night, an armed attack was committed on the camp of the participants of the fire prevention expedition, organized by the "Greenpeace" and the "EcoWatch", who were involved in fighting fires in Kuban. Two ecologists were injured. Law enforcers organized round-the-clock protection of the ecologists' camp.

Oleg Mitvol, the leader of the "Zelenaya Alternativa" and the "Zelenye" Party, has noted that one of the participants of the expedition is nominated from the "Zelenye" Party for the elections to the State Duma.

In the context of the upcoming elections, the situation around the ecological expedition is not beneficial for the regional and federal authorities, emphasizes Grigory Kuksin, the leader of a volunteer programme of the "Greenpeace".

Vladimir Prigoda, the chief of the press service of the administration of the Krasnodar Territory, has denied the ecologists' suggestions about the involvement of the Kuban authorities in the incident.

The activists intend to continue fighting fires in Kuban; however, they will move their camp to another place for security reasons, reports the website of the "Greenpeace Russia".
