Armenia's membership in anti-Iraq coalition still undecided
The Armenian leadership should think about the country's security before becoming a member of the anti-Iraqi coalition, Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian told journalists. In his words, the Armenian Government will make a final decision on the sending of 50 Armenian medical officers and field engineers to Iraq only after clarification of some questions and reasoning from the situation in Iraq. Poland, a part of which contingent the Armenian peacekeepers are to be, has not determined its position in the issue of increasing or reducing its contingent in Iraq so far.
Not only the Armenian community in Iraq but Armenian communities in other Arabian countries worry about possible consequences of the Armenian servicemen's sending to Iraq, Mr Margarian added. "There's deep concern in Armenia too since our country will become a target for international terrorism in case of Armenian servicemen's participation in antiterrorist actions," he explained.
