Two "Greenpeace" activists hospitalized after attack in Kuban

This night, in the Krasnodar Territory, a camp of participants of the fire prevention expedition of the "Greenpeace" and the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), was attacked by armed men. This was reported by the activists. According to them, the attack was organized by the local authorities and secret forces.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to the "Greenpeace", participants of the fire prevention expedition of the "Greenpeace" and the "EcoWatch", who intended to help members of the rescue teams of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), were cordoned off by Cossacks in Kuban. On September 8, the activists managed to leave for a place of a major fire in the Primorsko-Akhtarsk District.

The purpose of the expedition is to extinguish fires in wetlands in the Beysug floodplains and the Akhtar-Griven Liman system, reports the "Greenpeace-Russia". Most of the above floodplains are being used by the Beysug spawning and nursery farms.

According to the "Greenpeace-Russia", at might of September 9, the participants of the expedition were attacked by eight men in masks armed by batons, knives and pistols. Grigory Kuksin, the manager of the fire prevention project of the "Greenpeace-Russia", has reported that the attackers "damaged cars, cut tents, beat people, and stole some piece valuable equipment."

According to the "Greenpeace-Russia", Mikhail Kreindlin, a specialist in environmental law, is diagnosed with the broken nose and suspected brain concussion. Andrei Polomoshnov, a volunteer from the Trans-Baikal Territory, supposedly got his ribs broken.

"There are reasons to believe that the attack involves the FSB Department for the Krasnodar Territory, the department of internal policy of the administration of the Krasnodar Territory, as well as Igor Djeus, the chief of the spawning and nursery farm of Beysug, and Cossacks of the Primorsko-Akhtarsk District," reports the website of the "EcoWatch".
