In Armenia, Russian citizen detained at request of USA

Russian citizen Sergey Mironov, detained in Armenia at the request of the USA, is suspected of illegal transfer of military technologies and money laundering. This was reported by Karen Nersisyan, an advocate of the detainee.

According to the advocate, on August 26, Sergey Mironov was detained by the security service of Armenia together with his wife, when they arrived in Yerevan from Moscow.

Sergey Mironov works as an ordinary programmer, and he has no access to any secret technology, the "Interfax" reports with reference to advocate Karen Nersisyan.

"He works as a programmer in Russia for a company affiliated with the 'RZhD' (Russian Railways) and Underground Railway," reported the advocate.

"We are still not aware of what exactly he is accused of. During his detention, it has been announced that he is wanted by the US authorities for money laundering in the amount of 50,000 US dollars and disclosing some military technologies. The Russian Interpol has no information about the search for my client. It's a clear US initiative," said Karen Nersisyan.
