Majority of Chechen refugees unable to participate in presidential election

"Chechen refugees will be given an opportunity to do their civic duty and take part in the Chechen presidential election as usual. Several polling stations have been already prepared in the settlements of Assinovskaya and Sernovodsk, Chechnya's Sunzha district," the head of the representative office of the Chechen Republic in Ingushetia, Gelani Beldurov, said in his interview with the Caucasian Knot correspondent. "Moreover, the Chechen side has allotted about 10 vehicles to deliver voters to the place of destination. The busses will drive from both places of refugees' compact residence and places of their living in private houses."

From 32 to 48 thousand internally displaced persons from Chechnya live in Ingushetia now, according to difference sources. And the majority of these people will hardly be able to ride out to the polling stations because of the transport shortage. In Mr Beldurov's words, 10 busses allotted by the Chechen side can house only 1.5-2 thousand people.
