IS claims responsibility for attacking policemen near Moscow

The DPS (road-and-patrol service) in the Moscow Region was attacked by militants of the "Islamic State" (IS), states the terrorist organization banned by the court in Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, as a result of the attack on the DPS post, located in the 20th kilometre of the Scholkovo Highway, near the town of Balashikha, two policemen were heavily wounded. During the incident, two attackers were killed, said power agents.

Today, a number of websites that support the armed underground of Northern Caucasus, as well as pages of IS’ supporters on the Twitter, posted a statement of the IS (the so-called "Islamic State", earlier – the ISIL, recognized in Russia as a terrorist organization, activities of which have been banned by a court judgement), saying that the IS claims responsibility for the attack on the DPS post in the Moscow Region.

Let us remind you that in early August, the IS issued a video calling for a jihad in Russia. The video, posted on the Internet on the YouTube video platform contains threats addressed to Russians and an appeal to the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
