Ingush refugee beaten in North Osetia

Officers of North Osetian security agencies have cruelly beaten an inhabitant of the Ingush refugee camp situated on the outskirts of the village of Maiskii in the Prigorodnyi district of the Republic of North Osetia - Alania.

Early in the morning on October 2, a military UAZ car came to the wooden trailer in which the Khamkhoyev family, refugees from the village of Oktyabrskoye in the Prigorodnyi district, has been living for the last few years. Four gunmen, one of whom wore a camouflage uniform, captured 24-year-old Magomed Khamkhoyev without any explanations, forced him in the car and took away with them. They asked the man on the way where he had been during the June 22 developments in Ingushetia and hostage-taking in Beslan. Then they drove him to a forest belt 20 kilometers away from Vladikavkaz, where all the four men start beating him. They tried to extort a confession from him that he had been involved in the terror attack in Beslan, Magomed told activists of the Human Rights Center Memorial office in Nazran.

Now Magomed Khamkhoyev is in a Nazran hospital with numerous head traumas and fractures. Doctors say he is in grave condition with numerous rib fractures, craniocerebral injuries, having his liver, kidneys and spleen injured.

The reaction of North Osetian authorities to the incident in the Maiskii village is unknown so far.
