Four members of "Sasna Tsrer" arrested in Yerevan

In Yerevan, Araik Khandoyan, Varuzhan Avetisyan, Areg Kyuregyan, and Aram Akopyan, participants of the seizure of the building of the patrol-and-post service of the police regiment are charged with hostage-taking and illegal possession of weapons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 17-31, In Yerevan, the seized building of the police regimen was held by the armed group "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), which included supporters of the opposition movement "Constituent Parliament". In the related criminal case, the charges have been brought against 47 persons. On August 1, the court pronounced the decision to arrest for two months three members of the Coordinating Council of the "Sasna Tsrer". On August 2, two other members of the group of rebels were arrested.

According to the National Security Council of Armenia, out of 47 defendants in the criminal case, 31 are members of the "Sasna Tsrer". Others, including Artur Sargsyan, who broke through the police cordon and brought food for the rebels, are suspected of aiding the members of the armed group.

Araik Khandoyan was arrested for two months by the decision of the court. This was reported by his advocate Araik Papikyan.

According to him, Varuzhan Avetisyan, Areg Kyuregyan, and Aram Akopyan were also arrested. They were charged with hostage-taking and illegal possession of weapons, the "Interfax" reports today.
