MP Nikol Pashinyan demands resignation of Armenian President

In Yerevan, about 1500 people gathered in Khorenatsi Street for a rally to support members of the group "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), who seized the building of the patrol-and-security service of the police regiment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 17, in Yerevan, armed members of the opposition "Constituent Parliament" seized the building of the regiment of the patrol-and-security service of the police regiment. Yerevan hosts mass demonstrations of opposition supporters, demanding not to use force against the rebels who seized the building.

"The only thing I want to say is if the people wish the Serzh Sargsyan's resignation, then he would have to leave, and otherwise he has no exit. No cases of vendetta are to occur as a result of the change of power. We must eliminate such cases, and the law must act. We demand to release political prisoners, and after the change of power, Armenia should never have political prisoners anymore," states Nikol Pashinyan, an oppositional Armenian MP, as quoted by the "Arminfo".

About 1500 citizens stay in Khorenatsi Street. Participants of the rally held a minute of silence to pay tribute to the memory of Police Colonel Arthur Vanoyan, who was killed during the seizure of the police regiment territory, the "TASS" reports.
