68,000 roubles raised in KChR for repatriates

Starting from June 28, the youth organization "Adyge-Khase" of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) is fundraising for the Circassians, who have returned from Syria. The campaign will last until August 1 – the Repatriate Day, Timur Zhuzhuev, the head of the youth organization, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Syrian Circassians, being refugees, need help. They have plenty of problems: in everyday life and other social problems. We, Circassians, who live here, want to help them; moreover, quite soon, on August 1, we mark the Repatriate Day. We perceive it as a rebirth day of our nation," he explained, stressing that many repatriates have no housing and no full-scale employment; therefore, they need financial help.

Amar Zhuzhuev, a Circassian and social activist, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that some raised money will be spent to buy school supplies for children from repatriates' families.

"The fundraising was announced, as the Circassians, who came from Syria, need many things; many of them have children, who need the above school supplies," he said.

Activists believe that so far they managed to raise quite a small sum, 68,000 roubles, and that it may increase significantly.

"I'm sure we'll do more. We've sent letters to all Circassian businessmen and people in the power; now, we wait for their response," said Timur Zhuzhuev.
