In Yerevan, mobile communication with rebels cut off

The situation in the area of the building of the seized regiment of the patrol-and-security service of the Police of Armenia is still tense. Rebels believe that law enforcers are getting prepared to assault the police regiment building.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning of July 17, supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" seized the building of the regiment of the patrol-and-security service in Yerevan. During the seizure, one policeman was killed, and six others were wounded. The negotiations are underway.

When commenting on the situation to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Alek Enigomshyan, a member of the "Constituent Parliament", has reported that the secret services cut off the mobile communication with a group of "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun, the rebels named their group after the Armenian epic poem, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), which members seized the police regiment building.

Alek Enigomshyan has noted that in the morning, Varuzhan Avetisyan, one of the rebels, who seized the building, managed to get in touch with him. Varuzhan Avetisyan said that according to the rebel, they observe motion of vehicles near the seized police regiment building.

"The members of the rebel group associate the disconnection of the mobile communication and the motion of vehicles with the law enforcers' intentions to assault the building. However, the rebels, who seized the police regiment, assured that they were ready to defend the building," the oppositionist has noted.
