Armenian Ministry of Public Health reports sixth wounded person in capture of police regiment building

Five persons, wounded during the attack of members of the "Constituent Parliament" on the building of the police regiment in Yerevan, are in hospitals, another victim has been discharged.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 17, supporters of the opposition "Constituent Parliament" seized the building of the regiment of the patrol-and-security police service. One policeman was killed, and three others were wounded. Besides, two oppositionists were injured. Members of the "Constitutive Parliament" demand to release all political prisoners in the country, including their leader Zhirair Sefilyan. The "Heritage" Party and the Front of National Salvation "New Armenia" blamed the authorities for the incident. In Yerevan, the police began to detain supporters of opposition movements.

The fact that there were six victims of the capture was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a source from the Ministry of Public Health of Armenia, who explained: "At the moment, hospitals in Yerevan keep five wounded persons: four policemen and one member of the armed group; another patient was discharged after receiving medical care."

Two victims were seriously wounded; they were operated on and are recovering now in the intensive care units of the "Erebuni" Medical Centre and the Yerevan-based "Muratsan" MilitaryHospital, said the source from the Ministry of Public Health. According to his story, doctors assess the patients' condition as grave but stable after surgeries.
