Residents of Pankisi Gorge confirm death of Umar al-Shishani

The information about the death of Tarkhan Batirashvili, one of the leaders of the "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, is confirmed by residents of the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia, but not by family members of Tarkhan Batirashvili. This was reported by Umar Idigov, the founder of the Foundation for Caucasus Integration.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 13, the IS announced the death of Umar al-Shishani during an armed clash in the Iraqi town of Shirkat.

According to Umar Idigov, Teimuraz, the father of Tarkhan Batirashvili, was unable to confirm the information.

The fact that the family members of Tarkhan Batirashvili were unable to confirm or deny the information about his death was also reported by told Gela Mtivlishvili, the editor of the Kakheti Information Centre.

The present report on the death of Umar Al-Shishani was at least the thirteenth. However, it is the first time when the report was disseminated by the very militants, and thus it is worth to be trusted, experts believe.

Umar Idigov has noted that the dead man's body will actually not be transported to Georgia.
