Terror attack in Dagestan prevented

A rebel group, which planned to commit a terror attack in the Republic of Dagestan, was liquidated in Chechnya in the course of a special operation conducted by a sub-unit of the Russian Defense Ministry's special operations battalion Vostok under the command of Captain Sulim Yamadayev, a source in the republican military commandant's office told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. 12 rebels, including 6 acting Chechen police officers, were detained during the operation, which started on August 25 and was conducted in several districts of Chechnya simultaneously.

"The operation to neutralize the gang started in the end of August in the town of Gudermes. Sultan Alazov, a Wahhabi commander, and some of his mates were arrested then. They imparted information about a large terror attack which was prepared in Dagestan and for which leaders of bandit groups allotted $500 thousand. Rebels planned to carry out in a Dagestani town, admittedly Khasavyurt, something similar to what happened in Beslan," the source in the military commandant's office said.
