Stenin's complaint against fine rejected

Today, the Sovietsky District Court of Astrakhan has upheld the ruling of the magistrate judge to fine by 300 roubles Igor Stenin, the leader of the nationalist movement "Russians of Astrakhan" for the dissemination of personal data.

On April 19, Stenin was fined by 300 roubles after the Astrakhan court found him guilty under Article 13.11 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences (violation of the order established by the law for collecting, storing, using or disseminating information about citizens).

Igor Stenin was accused of posting one's personal information on the page of one of the users of the social network "VKontakte". The ruling of the magistrate judge was appealed against. Today, the Sovietsky District Court of Astrakhan has left it unchanged.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that May 16 Stenin was sentenced to two years in a colony-settlement on charges of public calls for extremism in the comments under his post in the "VKontakte". His defence appealed against the verdict. On June 9, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" announced that Stenin's prosecution was politically motivated, and investigators, the prosecutor's office and the court demonstrated "extreme bias and partiality." However, rights defenders have stressed that their position in relation to case does not mean their consent with the convict's viewpoints.
