Alkhanov's rivals will not appeal against election results
Results of the August 29 election of President of the Chechen Republic will not be appealed against, in spite of numerous violations that took place. No one out of 6 rivals of the Kremlin's favorite Alu Alkhanov, who has become a new head of the republic, is going to lodge complaints about numerous violations committed in the course of the voting.
A representative of one of the candidates who lost believes "it is a useless occupation in any case." "This election wasn't fair. Observers, journalists, human rights activists, and ordinary people recorded a lot of violations. But they've still been declared valid, Alkhanov being declared the winner. To appeal against the election results and try to achieve their annulment is a useless occupation in principle, that is why no one will do it," the man explained.
Results of the Chechen presidential election are to be officially summed up in Grozny today.
