Dagestani journalists report on numerous violations at Russian Wrestling Championship in Yakutsk

The violations at the Russian Wrestling Championship began with the selection of the venue. Furthermore, experts from the same country were selected as referees. This was claimed by participants of the meeting of the "Games of Journalists" Press Club.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a scandal involving athletes from Dagestan occurred at the Russian Wrestling Championship in Yakutsk after the fight between Ismail Musukaev, a Dagestani athlete, and Viktor Lebedev, a member of the Yakutia team. The referee awarded the victory to Viktor Lebedev, and after that a clash occurred at the ring. Meanwhile, after the match, the Russian Championships Wrestling Commission claimed mistakes of the referee and awarded the victory to Ismail Musukaev. However, he was not allowed to continue taking part in the tournament.

On June 4, at the meeting of the "Games of Journalists" Press Club devoted to the topic of "Unfair refereeing during sporting events as information threat", Magomed Magomedov, the director of the information agency RIA "Dagestan", commented on the background of the scandalous situation. He said that it was yet in the 1990s, when the country faced the merging of crime and sports.

Magomed Magomedov has emphasized that the violations had been registered yet prior to the start of the match. So, in violation of the rules, referees were represented by two members from the same region (Mongolia), while the competition itself took place in Yakutia, whereas earlier, it had been reported that it would be held in Saint Petersburg, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"The refereeing was disgusting in all matches involving Viktor Lebedev," noted Magomed Magomedov. And he continued: "A certain team is fighting to select its members, who will take part in the Olympic Games."
