Experts doubt sincerity of Djalaldinov's apology to Kadyrov

Ramazan Djalaldinov, who raised the problem of corruption in the Chechen village of Kenkhi, was forced to apologize to Ramzan Kadyrov. This opinion was voiced by rights defender Oleg Orlov and Mikhail Roschin, the researcher of the Caucasus. Ramazan Djalaldinov himself claims that his apology has been mounted in a way to create a view that he is allegedly addressing Ramzan Kadyrov, reports journalist Elena Milashina.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a large-scale campaign was organized against Ramazan Djalaldinov, as a result of which he and his family members were forced to leave for Dagestan, and their house in the village of Kenkhi was burned down.

Elena Milashina, a reporter of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta", talked to Kenkhi villagers. She believes that the Chechen authorities did not subjected Ramazan Djalaldinov to pressure. According to Elena Milashina, the record with the Ramazan Djalaldinov's apology was mounted.

In his appeal, Ramazan Djalaldinov spoke only about the problems of the village and corruption. He was trying to draw the attention of Ramzan Kadyrov, but not to "quarrel" with him, Elena Milashina notes.

In his turn, Oleg Orlov, a member of the board of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", believes that the case bears signs of the Chechen authorities' intervention.

Mikhail Roschin, Senior Researcher of the Centre for Central Asian, Caucasian and Volga-Urals Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), also believes that in such a situation, the apologizing man was likely subjected to pressure.
