Three bosses of Kuban colony arrested under case of teenager's death

Investigators have charged three former top managers of the colony located in the town of Belorechensk, Krasnodar Territory (also called Kuban by the name of the main river), with abuse of power within the case of beating inmates, one of whom died. Earlier, seven employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) were arrested.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to investigators that on November 25, 2015, employees of the Belorechensk juvenile correctional colony beat up several newcomers; six of them received bodily injuries and one died. Seven colony employees were detained within the initiated criminal case. 17 employees were fired.

Now, investigators have indicted three former colony bosses, including Vladislav Ivanov, the acting head of the institution, said the advocate Alexander Popkov, who is representing the victims' interests.

According to the advocate, all of them are accused of abuse of power with use of violence and serious consequences.

"New figurants have been also arrested, as investigators fear that they may put pressure on the victims. One of them has pled guilty and signed a pre-trial agreement on cooperation with investigators," the RAPSI quotes Mr Popkov as saying today.
