In Turkey, Circassians stand against prosecution of Adnan Khuade

More than 100 people gathered at the protest action in front of the Russian Consulate General in Istanbul in connection with the initiation of the criminal case against Adnan Khuade, an activist from Adygea.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 5, in Maikop, law enforcers detained Adnan Khuade, a Circassian activist, a repatriate from Turkey. On May 11, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Adygea reported that Adnan Khuade was arrested for 15 days for driving a vehicle without driving licence. Later, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported that Adnan Khuade is suspected of bribing an official.

The protest action in Istanbul was organized by the public association "Patriots of Circassia". The protest action "is timed to the 152nd anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War, the expulsion of the Circassian people from their historical homeland, and the events marked by the Circassians throughout the world as genocide."

The participants of the protest action read out a resolution condemning the actions of the Russian law enforcement bodies prosecuting members of the Circassian movement and, in particular, Adnan Khuade, who was called "one of the first victims of the cooling in the Russian-Turkish relations."

Let us remind you that on December 17, 2015, Adnan Khuade, his daughter, and their female assistant were arrested for 15 days after the conflict with the FSB in Adygea. Earlier, the Circassian activist has already been subjected to pressure from the law enforcement bodies and reported about the searches at his workplace and at home.
